There are drawbacks of using animals in the respirometer because the animal may be injured or even die. This raises the ethical issue of whether the death of the animal is justifiable in the name of science. This is why crickets may be used because they are thought to be more expendable. However, it becomes more of an ethical dilemma once you acknowledge that plants can also be used in the respirometer because plants also respire.
I got a 3 out of 4 on the quiz. I wasn't sure what the role of KOH was in the experiment.
